What's it Mean to be a Disciple

Pastor Dale emphasizes the importance of being an active disciple of Christ, highlighting that discipleship involves three key components: the head (decision to follow Christ), the heart (transformation by Christ), and the hands (active service and teaching). A disciple must identify, use, and share their God-given gifts, ensuring they contribute to others' spiritual growth rather than stagnating. The parable of the talents and the concept of the Dead Sea's stagnation illustrate the necessity of being a conduit for God's blessings.

The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) is discussed as a call to all believers to make disciples, teaching and baptizing others. Jesus empowers His followers through the Holy Spirit to continue His work. Pastor reflects on personal inadequacy and God's choice to use the "least likely" individuals to display His glory and strength. They stress that God doesn't require perfection but willingness and obedience.

Through stories from Scripture (David's anointing, Jesus' resurrection appearances, and the new creation in Christ from 2 Corinthians 5), the message urges believers to embrace their calling, share their faith, and pour into others' lives as ambassadors of Christ. Stagnation occurs without an outlet for spiritual gifts, but when believers share what they've been given, they experience renewed purpose and God's continuous filling.

In closing, the speaker prays for strength, humility, and the courage to fulfill God's mission by actively engaging in making disciples.
